Study on the relationship between suicidal ideation and the latent class type identified by experience of elderly abuse and discrimination

Abstract
The purposes of the presented study were to investigate the latent class type of elderly based on experience of abuse and discrimination, the relationship between the latent class types and suicidal ideation, and the moderation effect of perception on social supports on suicide prevention. Latent class analysis and regression analysis with the data from 828 elderly were executed. The results revealed that firstly, there were two latent class types based on experience of abuse and discrimination. Secondly, the type of latent class significantly effected on the level of suicidal ideation, showing that the higher risk type were associated with the higher levels of suicidal ideation.
Lastly, the perception on social supports on suicide prevention significantly moderated the effect of latent class type on the levels of suicidal ideation. The implications from the results of this study were discussed.
